Made possible through the generosity of Dr. Barbara "Penny" Kanner, the Penny Kanner Dissertation Research Fellowship funds an exceptional dissertation research project that pertains to women or gender that uses historical materials and methods.

Criteria

  *   The object of study may derive from the social sciences, literature or the arts.
  *   Applicant must be registered in a UCLA doctoral program.
  *   Dissertation prospectus must pertain to women and/or gender.
  *   Research must use historical materials.

Special Note

  *   Students who are qualified under the CA Dream Act of 2011 are eligible to apply. Detailed information on the CA Dream Act of 2011 is on www.fao.ucla.edu<http://www.fao.ucla.edu/>
  *   Applicants  who are receiving financial aid should consult with the Financial Aid Office. If you are selected as a recipient of this award, your financial aid package may be subject to revision.

  2.  Curriculum Vitae

  4.  Letters of recommendation from two faculty members of any university

Letters of recommendation may be submitted in these ways:

  *   Letters may be sealed in an envelope, with the recommender’s signature across the back flap, and delivered to:

·         Applicant must be engaged in research on women and/or gender.

·         Applicant must be registered and enrolled in a doctorate program at UCLA.

·         Applicant must have advanced to candidacy by one month before award deadline.
