Elizabeth Blackwell, M.D., Graduate Award

This award recognizes an outstanding research report, master's thesis, dissertation, or published article related to women and health or women in health-related endeavors. Named for Elizabeth Blackwell, M.D., the first woman to graduate from medical school, it is made possible by the generosity of Dr. Barbara "Penny" Kanner.

Criteria


*         Applicant must be currently registered in a graduate program at UCLA.

*         The research report, master's thesis, dissertation, or published article must have been written while the applicant was enrolled in a UCLA graduate program.

*         Multi-authored articles will be considered if the applicant can demonstrate a significant contribution to the research.

Special Note


*         Students who are qualified under the CA Dream Act of 2011 are eligible to apply. Detailed information on the CA Dream Act of 2011 is on www.fao.ucla.edu<http://www.fao.ucla.edu/>.

*         Applicants who are receiving financial aid should consult with the Financial Aid Office. If you are selected as a recipient of this award, your financial aid package may be subject to revision.

1.    Research report or an abstract/summary of a master's thesis, dissertation, or published article (maximum 6 single-spaced pages)

2.    Curriculum Vitae

3.    Unofficial Transcripts

4.    Letters of recommendation from 2 (two) faculty members of any university.

Letter of Recommendation
Letters of recommendation may be submitted in these ways:


*         Letters may be emailed to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> from the faculty's university email, OR

*         Faculty may upload letters via the link they receive from CSW, OR

*         Letters may be sealed in an envelope, with the recommender's signature across the back flap, and delivered to:
