The Center for the Study of Women at UCLA acknowledges the Tongva peoples as the traditional land caretakers of Tovaangar (Los Angeles basin, So. Channel Islands) and are grateful to have the opportunity to work for the taraaxatom (indigenous peoples) in this place. As a land grant institution, we pay our respects to Honuukvetam (Ancestors), 'Ahiihirom (Elders), and 'eyoohiinkem (our relatives/relations) past, present and emerging.

Subject: More CSW writing retreats! Save the dates

Hello fellow CSWAC members,

Our first virtual CSW writing retreat was wonderful – at its conclusion I realized I had gotten some real writing done and had exercised, and those are two of the most challenging things for me to fit into my regular days. That felt great.

In response to feedback, we’re scheduling more virtual retreats, on a biweekly basis.

Also, if people want to stay for a few minutes after the shorter retreats conclude, for the purpose of talking about writing strategies, we can keep the Zoom room open, and I can join you. No pressure, though.

It was inspiring to see others’ writing goals and to share space (even when we had our videos off – just knowing others were at it was what I needed). Please know that all are welcome at these retreats, even if your writing is to brainstorm, make outlines, compile notes, develop writing plans, or whatever – it’s all writing, and it’s all about fostering your research. And again, kids, pets, and other loved ones are welcome.

Look for the calendar invitations from CSW, and it would be great if you could RSVP to the invites, so we have some sense of attendance in advance. But if you realize at the last minute that you can join us, please be spontaneous and do so!

Looking forward,

Jessica
